Raspberries, a delicacy among berries, is unquestionably one of the most stimulating fruits for the health of our body. Among the main benefits, can be mentioned the strengthening of the immune system, raspberries having a high content of vitamin C. Raspberries also contain important compounds that fight against disease and the formation of tumour cell. On the other hand, raspberries are a good fighter against cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
The plant that produces these fruits can be found all across the territory of Romania, in mountainous and hilly areas, in shrubs, forests and rocky regions. Most of the time, the raspberries grow spontaneously, blooming from May until July. The raspberry shrub is recognized by its spiked stems with crawling shoots, tangled and arched towards the top.
Raspberries scientific name is Rubus idaeus, the plant belonging to the Rosaceae family. The fruits are very delicious, with a tasteful, aromatic flavour. They are grown for two main reasons: fresh consumption and by boiling jams and industrial processing. In both cases, the fruits of the Rubus Idaeus plant are a perfect blend of vitamins and active compounds for the protection of the human body’s health.
